And The Winner Is…
Hurt Me by Sparkadia
Wake up by my side
Someone else is sleeping
So I guess my emptiness was never one to leave me all alone
There’s promises
Ones that are for keeping
She won’t talk so you won’t know the ones I keep from youHurt me
Good souls like you don’t deserve assholes like meHurt me
Why don’t you hurt me
Good souls like you don’t deserve assholes like meWake up by your side
Someone else is sleeping
So I guess my emptiness was never one for leaving me alone
I had the choice
So suffer I should
I won’t talk so you won’t know the pain I keep from youHurt me
Oh hurt me
Cos a good soul like you – should go and hurt an asshole like me
So why this one out of all the songs released in 2011 (and I do apologise to Adele fans, she came so close as did Jessie J with Big White Room)? It’s because Alex Burnett’s voice is just so amazing on this track. As soon as I heard it I knew this would be The Rodnews Song Of The Year. It doesn’t hurt that lyrically the song is simple but excellent and musically I just love the way the song gradually builds up in intensity. By the end of the song you are just totally involved in the story of the song. I guess you could say it made a Great Impression on me.
